The Next Day
I woke up, my head spinning with the events of yesterday. I smiled to myself as I got ready. But wait.
What does this make me and Lucas? Were we dating? Was that just a one time thing? What if he thought it was a mistake? What if he wished it had never happened? Oh God, what if he stopped talking to me? What if he only kissed me because he pittied me? What if-
"Hey, Kase, time to go," Teresa said, jinggling her keys.
I nodded. I guess I would find out.

As I opened my locker, I heard a voice behind me.
"Hey," he said.
I grabbed my books, shut my locker, and turned around to face Lucas.
"Hey," I bit my lip nervously.
He looked into my eyes. "What's wrong, Kasey?"
I broke eye contact. "Um-"
"How about we go talk somewhere?" He offered.
I raised an eyebrow. "We have five minutes until first period."
He shrugged. "Who says we're going to first period?" He held out his hand
I smiled, my heart pounding, and took his hand.

We didn't make it to far, we settled for the football feild. We sat on the very top row of the bleachers, holding hands.
We hadn't spoken since we made it to the top.
"What's on your mind?" Lucas asked, squeezing my hand.
I had to say it.
"Do you regret it?"
"What?" He asked.
O
"The kiss?" I pulled my hand away from him.
He looked hurt. "You think I regret the kiss?"
I shrugged.
"Kasey, that kiss was one of the best desisions I have ever made. Why would I regret something as wonderful as that?"
I shrugged again. "Because it was Me you kissed?"
"And what's the matter with you?" He asked softly.
"I'm not popular, my mom hates me, my dad wants nothing to do with me, I grew up in a moldy apartment. I'm just a sad story and-"
Lucas interuppted me. "Wait, you think I kissed you because I felt sorry for you?"
I nodded.
He closed his eyes and sighed. When he opened them, he was look intensly at me. "You've got it all wrong. I kissed you because you're beautiful, and smart, and funny. You're a hard worker, you don't care what other people think about you. Not because of your past. I kissed you because you're amazing and-"
Before he could say more, I placed my hands on both sides of his face and kissed him. I could feel the wind picking up, and tiny droplets of water on my face, but none of that mattered. All I could think of is how kissing Lucas felt so right. My lips on his, his hands tracing lines of bliss on my thighs. We kissed until a boom of thunder startled us, we pulled away from each other and looked up, letting the rain hit our faces.
I looked over at him, smiling. He smiled back and wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
I looked back at him, and as I watched his blue eyes, I knew. This is what it felt like to be falling in love.
