Working, Kind Of.
As promised, Lucas met me at my locker at the end of school."So how was your day?" He asked when I opened my locker.
"Fine, yours?" I asked, opening my locker.
"Not fun, but I think it will get better," he grinned.
"Nope, we have a project to work on," I closed my locker. "Projects aren't fun."
"No, but I'll have you," he nudged me with his hip as we walked out the door. "Let me carry those," he said gesturing to my books.
I handed them to him, he was such a gentleman. "Thanks."
"No problem."

His house was only a few minutes away. His house was nice. White with blue shutters, and a magazine ready green lawn. It looked like an advertisement.
"My moms a real estate agent," He explained.
"Ah," I was nervous for some reason. I had never been over to a guys house before, but how different could it be? What if his mom didn't like me. What if she thought my dress was to slutty and kicked me out? What if my breath smells bad? What if-
"You coming?" He asked.
"Oh, yeah." I got out of the car and followed him into the house. The inside was clean and smelled like cookies.
"Mom?" He called out. "I'm home, I brought company!"
A woman appeared, smiling. I saw where Lucas got his looks from. She had blond hair, blue eyes, and was pretty tall. "Hi Lucas, who's your friend?" She asked.
"Mom, this is Kasey. Kasey, this is my mom," Lucas adjusted the books, my books, in his hands.
"Hello," she held out her hand.
"It's nice to meet you," I said. I took it and shook it, praying my hands weren't sweating.
"Alright, let's get to working," Lucas said. I followed him up the stairs and into a bedroom. It was pretty big with a full size bed and a desk. I was impressed by how clean it was. He threw the books on the bed and went to the desk where his laptop was. "You ready to work?"
*******************************************
We honestly did work...for about thirty minutes. But then one thing led to another and now we were on opposite sides of the room, throwing gummy bears at each other, seeing if we could catch them with our mouths.
"You ready?" I asked, aiming a green one.
"Go," Lucas said, his mouth wide.
I threw it and it bounced off his nose. I started laughing, "Ha, my turn."
"That was a bad throw!" He accused.
"No, it wasn't. You just don't want to admit that I'm better than you," I told him, throwing another gummy bear that hit him on the forehead.
He looked at me and his shocked face turned into one of determination. "Oh, it's on now."
Gummy bears flew across the room, I was hit countless times. Then, I chucked one and it hit Lucas on the chest, right above his heart. He placed both of his hands over the "wound" and fell back onto his bed. He murmered something about 'death by gummy bear.' I sat beside him on the bed, trying to hold back my laughter. Lucas was really putting on the dramatics.
"I got to tell you something," he whispered, taking one hand of his heart and pulling my closer.
"Anything," I said playfully.
"I want you to know....To know," he went on a fake coughing spurt.
Yes, this is what all seventeen year olds do in their free time.
"Tell me Lucas, before the gummy bear takes your life," I whispered. Our faces were so close to each others. I could feel his breath on my face, if I leaned down just a few more inches, we would be kissing.
"I want you to know... that this isn't over!" He yelled, pinning me on the bed.
We both started laughing hyserically. His hands still pinned my wrists to the bed but I managed to wiggle out of his hold and pin him down, putting him in the position I was just in.
After some more laughing, I said, "I got you."
He nodded, "You got me." His face was playful, but something was in his voice made me think that maybe there was more behind those words than I thought. We managed to sit up on the edge of the bed without tackeling each other. "You got me," he repeated, his face suddenly serious.
He took my hand and moved closer to me, our hips and shoulders touching. The room seemed to fade out as he placed his hand on the back of my neck, and guided me closer to him. My heart was racing as I realized what was about to happen. I closed my eyes and leaned in. I felt his lips graze mine then-
"Oh my God!"
Me and Lucas lurched forward at the same time, causing us to bump heads. We both looked up to the doorway where his mom stood, flustered.
"I'm sorry, I just, I wanted to tell you that it was five and Lucas has a baseball game at six..." His mom trailed off.
"Oh, yeah, sorry. I'll call my sister and get her to pick me up," I said, still blushing like crazy.
Lucas shook his head. "I can drive you."
"No, I don't want you to be late for your baseball game. I'll call my sister," I smiled at him.
I swear, he got better looking every second.
"If you're sure," Lucas shrugged.
We stared at each other, and for a moment, I thought we were about to kiss but his mom cleared her throat.
"Okay, I'll be downstairs," she left, leaving the door wide open.
I groaned, letting my face drop into my hands on my lap.
"What?" Lucas asked, placing a hand on my back.
"Your mom probably thinks I'm a slut now," I said.
He laughed. "You are not a slut."
I looked up at him with a questioning look on my face.
"You're just beautiful," he said.
**************************************************************
Fifteen minutes later, and a horn beeped outside.
"That's my sister. I'll see you tomorrow," I grabbed my bag from the floor and started to leave.
"Okay," he said.
I was about to open the door, when he grabbed my hand and pulled me back.
He leaned in and gave me a soft kiss on the cheek. "Bye, Kasey," he said as he pulled back.
I smiled and told him goodbye.
As I walked to my sisters car, only one thing was going through my mind.
Oh. My. God.
