The Power of Disappearing

Everybody wishes they can be invisible sometimes.  Like the time you dropped their lunch and everyone in the cafeteria started laughing.  Or the time you said something really dumb to your crush.  We've all been there.  

Well, I've learned the power to disappear.  It's actually really simple.

Don't do anything that might bring attention to you.

Simple, easy, and effective.  If you don't do anything weird or funny, nobody will notice you.  2/3 of the population of my highschool couldn't even tell you what my first name starts with.  The other third is made up of people who know my name but couldn't care less about who I am.  I'm not on any sports teams, clubs or social networks.  The only thing I do in my spare time is read and watch movies.  I do my homework on time, I turn in my projects on time and fly under the radar.  

That's the only thing I want to be in life: invisible.  I want to hide from the embarrasment and laughter.  I want to live my life in peace and quiet.  Is that so bad?

The only problem with being invisible is that most people don't care about you.  So you can fall down in the hall, and nobody even gives you a second glance.  You could be dying and no one would notice.  

. . . Sometimes I wish I could just break out of my net of invisibility so I can just be me. . . But what if people hated me?  What if they made fun of me for who I am?

I have the power of disappearing, but maybe that should change.
