Moonlit Eyes, Chapter 3
The walk to the Dusk tribe’s base was quite the experience... The one thing Midnight hated was the dew on the grass. When Starcry ran, she would also kick up the water droplets. Dew. Midnight’s mother’s name was Dewcres, but that’s all he knew. Occasionally one of his bigger siblings would visit the cave with news for Stripenight and a note for Midnight from her. Though, no cat had visited for quite a while. It was also getting colder, so that was probably the reason. But still…Sundune stopped in her tracks, but not letting go of her father’s tail. “Sundune, come on-” “I hear someone..” the others stopped as well. Something was rustling in the forest. “Run!” Willow made sure the rest of the kittens and the other guardians were in front of him before running. “Not so fast!” Someone pounced on Willow. “Well well well, look who I found!” said a sinister voice. A blast of blue flames shot towards the new cat, but he barely dodged. “S- Sunray!?” Willow gasped between breaths.
“Indeed. After being quiet for so long, I thought I'd pay you a visit.” Midnight was terrified. “Starcry! Use those sin flowers!” Starcry nodded and put down her head, all four paws on the floor. Dark leaves started to sprout from the ground, and only a minute later, pitch-black flowers had grown and they were floating off towards Sunray. “You think you can stop me with a bunch of flowers-?” Sunray shut up when one touched him. Tears started to flood his eyes. “How dare you…”
Sunray pounced at Starcry only to be taken down by Heatflare. Two paw-shaped burns were now on Sunray’s side. Sunray hissed at Heatflare. “You are supposed to bow to me! I am your king!” “Not my king. Anyone who doesn’t have enough backbone to bow to you is your subjects.” Sunray swiped at Heatflare but was headbutted by Stripenight. “You will NEVER hurt these kittens. Do you understand me? Your father raised you better than this.” there was silence. Sunray huffed. “You must not know… my father is dead.” Stripenight backed off. “Sunrise? Dead?” “Dad, he’s getting away!” Midnight yelped, but it was too late. The sinister leader had already disappeared into the forest.
