The World We Live In
The woman that hears me is a fairly old lady with wisdom of the world in her eyes. She acts like she’s known me all her life. I step up to her and she asks me this one question.“Are you ready, for you true life to begin… are you ready, to fight for everything,” she says in a raspy voice.
“What do you mean… fight for what, I have nothing, NOTHING to live for,” I get louder as I speak.
“I cannot hear you child, I can read lips because I have no way of communicating otherwise, I only see your true form… I do not hear you because I have been in far worse pain than you and I cannot be filled with more sorrow,”
“I only see that you are in need of friends and family, waiting for someone to love you, and hear your voice”.
I guess that’s true, I have been alone my entire life and everybody here is suddenly trying to protect me. Why though? Why would they care about me, I mean I don’t even know these people.
“Why do you care… why does it matter that I survive, WHAT is so important about ME?” I’m furious now and so confused.
“You are important in protecting our world from destroying our kind, if the humans found out about what we are, our kind will not survive in the chaos.” She looks me in the eye and I see that she is serious.
“What creatures do I protect what are these things what is this place and especially what are you”.
I realize that that she has a knit cap on her head and she pulls it off showing black ears and I notice a black tail swinging behind her.
“I am a panther sent here by my clan because I was not like them… I am not wolf like I was born to be, I am a rare occurrence in these clans… and you are the same, YOU are a siren in fact a mute siren, which is rare in the families you came from,” She raises her head with pride.
This is all too much to take in, is this real; I don’t want to find out, I don’t literally want the world on my shoulders.
“The creatures are unknown to most but there are all sorts we haven’t discovered,”
“The ones we do know of are auras, halfers like me, fai which are fairy, and know a discovered race… the siren”.
“What were those attendants, why are they here?” I turn to the piles of ash still by the door.
“They are deams, short for demon; they take our souls and corrupt our bodies from the source of our transformations,” She trails off probably remembering an experience she once had.
“You must fight them for what they did to us,” She comes back and grabs my hand pleading to me for her life.
She stands a walks away “Your first savior is here,” she says to me before she leaves into an office with deams.
I wonder about this for a moment, WHAT savior.
A girl’s voice gets louder in the room and I look to where it’s “coming from” and there are two girls at a small table talking and crying. The tallest has white hair in braids and is glowing with a faint blue shine, she wears a light colored dress and her eyes seem like glitter was sprinkled in them. The younger girl is scarier with the blonde hair, a beaten teddy bear and grayish blue eyes, the scary part about her is that the teddy seems like it watches me as I move and her tears have a bloody color to them. I keep my distance and eaves drop on their conversation.
“Now you know I won’t be around to protect you, but I know you’re strong and you have a job,” she speaks with a low tone, but very urgent.
“I miss you sissy,” she cries more now which makes the blood color deeper.
“I will to… I’ll watch over you,” she starts to cry but instead of blood its trickling glitter. “But you have a job to do and I have mine, so I need you to, please, try,” she stops to hug her and they stay there for a while.
I step back to watch what happens next. Three attendants grab the older girl away and they drag her out of the chair.
“Goldie, You know what you have to do… tell the fairies of the A.S. that this asylum is...” she is separated by the door and the next we hear is screaming, horrible, mutilating shrieks, then silence.
