Dragons:chapter 7 (sea dragons)
There are many stories and legends that are told of mythical dragons. Many of them have been passed down from generation to generation. One of the most interesting dragons around the world is the one down below : The Sea Dragon. Usually in many stories and myths, three sea dragons are called upon , and they are Hydra, Leviathan, and the Loch Ness Monster which was also known as “Nessie.”Hydra is the nine headed sea dragon who lived in swamps and was very terrifying to many. If one of their heads were chopped off, another one would grow in its place practically making it invincible. The middle head of Hydra was so invincible that any kind of weapon used to damage it was futile. It was even a immortal. The breath of Hydra was so poisonous killing anyone that inhaled it. Usually Hydra would come up out of the swamp and eat innocent villagers. The only one who ever killed hydra was Hercules of the Greek Mythology.
the Leviathan is one of most famous giant sea serpents that lurked in the sea. They are about 200 feet long and about 20 feet thick. They are usually known as the sea monster. Their skin is so strong having a double coat of mail. Not even swords or harpoons can give a scratch to it. The Leviathan can breathe fire and cause huge tsunamis to boats and ships and land. In the bible the Leviathan is referred as the sea and terrorized the kingdom of Israel. It is also known as the crocodile that battled Baal and lost. It was forever dead after the Christ’s Second Coming. In the Hebrews the Leviathan meant that which gathers itself into fold or that which drawn out.
The Loch Ness monster was more of a turtle snake than a sea dragon. It has some relations to the Plesiosaur dinosaur. Some say the Plesiosaur was just a reptile. The Loch Ness monster has a very long neck and developed flippers as hands. Its body is very wide and huge. It is about seven meters away from being as huge as a blue wale. It usually lives in warm and shallow waters which made it impossible for it to live in the ice ages. Many people today believe that the Loch Ness monster wasn't a myth but was a true story trying to be discovered.
