Chapter 24

"Made up your mind?" Melissa asked Daniela the next as they entered the middle school. "Yeah." Daniela sighed. I couldn't sleep all night, I trying to make up mind. Finally I made my decision. She yawned. Melissa yawned as well. "It's true, yawning is contagious." They both walked to their lockers and gathered their things for first class. Daniela closed her locker and walked to gym class.
She changed and entered the gymnasium. Daniela sat in her squad line. Soon the boys exited their locker room. Louis came out and spotted Daniela. He started to walk towards her until Nicki walked in front of him. "Come on Louis, lets go sit with Aaron and May." Nicki grabbed his arm and dragged him away. Daniela watched as Nicki and Louis sat down with May.
"Hey, I'm going to be right back." Louis said as he got up. He once again walked over to Daniela. "Time to do laps outside everyone!" Mr. Mound announced as he pointed to the door. Everyone got up and ran out the door. Daniela ran over to the door with Hana, Allison, and Ocean. "It's a really nice day outside, must be why everyone wants to go outside." Ocean told them. Allison shook her head. "They just want to walk around with their friends and gossip and stuff." Allison replied. Daniela laughed, "Yeah makes sense." "At least we're are running the laps than walking them." Hana added. The crowed of people stopped running and started to walk. Daniela sighed, "Time to run." The four of them began to run the lap.
Louis walked outside. He kept on walking with the rest of the crowd until he spotted Daniela on the other side of the field. Long run but it's all gonna be worth it in the end. Louis started to run. His speed got quicker the closer he got to Daniela. When Louis was a couple feet away from him, he shouted, "Dani!" Daniela turned her head and saw Louis waving his hand at her. She slowly stopped running. Allison, Ocean, and Hana stopped running as well. Louis jogged over to them. "Hey, you guys don't mind if I borrow her for a bit, do you?" Hana shook her head, "No not at all." Daniela looked at Louis then her friends, "You guys can keep going, if you want." "Alright." Allison shrugged. Ocean, Allison, and Hana turned back around and kept on running.
Daniela and Louis walked through the concrete pathway. "So, what do you need me for?" Daniela asked him. "Huh?" Louis quickly looked at Daniela. "You wanted to borrow me?" Daniela smiled and raised an eyebrow. Louis blushed. He quickly looked the other way, "Um, I uh, wanted to asked you, who you picked." Daniela stared at him for a minute. She then shook her head. "Can't tell you yet. After school, when all three of us are here."
Louis frowned. "I’ve been waiting all night and morning to know who you picked." he whined. Daniela smiled, "I’m sorry, not yet." Sting. "Ouch." Daniela covered her finger with her hand. "What's wrong?" Louis looked at Daniela's hands. Daniela shook her hands in the air. "Oh it's just the cut from yesterday, it stings." Daniela smiled awkwardly. "Still?" Louis asked. "Yeah but it'll heal soon." Daniela assured Louis. "Good. Then let’s hurry up before the class leaves us behind." Louis smiled. Daniela smiled and nodded her head. "Yup."

       Daniela set down her lunchbox on the lunch table. Alexia, Allison, and her sat down. Everyone else soon came. Brooke came to the lunch table with fries, a soda, and a burger. "Brooke!" Paula reached out her hands. "Can I have some fries? Please." "Me too." Janie nodded. Allison, Hana, Vimi, and Daniela all held their hands out. Brooke looked at plainly at all of them. She held out six fries. "Whoa. Whoa. Whoa." Alexia interrupted. "Don't tell me you're going to throw them again, just like that other time. You threw that fry and this whole-" "Don't worry, I'm not stupid enough to do that again." Brooke laughed. "That's why I took out six." Brooke handed everyone a fry. Hana started to laugh, "I remember that, Allison slapped it and then th-the juice a-and then boom!" She hugged her stomach. Allison started to giggled, "I'm sorry I just didn't want you to have it." Daniela smiled and covered her laughter. "It's mostly my fault, I spilled the drink." Paula sighed. "It was like a war. Forget everyone and get the fry!" Vimi shook her fist in the air with a big grin on her face. Daniela felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned her head. Felix stood behind her. He bent down and whispered in her ear. Daniela nodded and got up from the table. "I'll be right back." She told everyone. "Oh Daniela, seems like lots of boys need you." Hana teased her. Daniela blushed and left the table with Felix.
         They both entered the hallway. "You needed me?" Daniela looked at Felix. Felix nodded his head, "Yeah, uh, I was wondering if you could tell me who you picked?" Felix asked shyly as he blushed and looked away. Daniela sighed, "After school I'll tell you. Alright?" Felix looked at her, somewhat upset, then he took a deep breath, "Yeah." Felix smiled, "Can't wait 'till then." "Good." Daniela grinned. "Do you need anything else?" Felix shook his head, "No, thanks." "You're welcome." Daniela smiled. She turned around and walked out the door. Felix watched as she left. He scratched behind his ear and slowly went back to his table.
          "Everything good?" Alexia asked Daniela as she sat back down. "Yeah. He just needed to ask me something." Daniela replied.

          The bell rang. Daniela yawned as she left her last class. I'm so glad school's over for today. She walked to her locker and opened it. She gathered her stuff into her backpack. I just want to go home and -. "Come on Dani." Daniela snapped out of her thoughts and looked up. Louis stood next her, grinning. Daniela nodded. She zipped her backpack up and put it on. Louis closed her locker for her. "We have to wait for Melissa." Daniela told him. Louis shook his head, "Nope, no time for that." He grabbed her hand pulled her through the hallway. Daniela bumped into Nicki. "Oh, I'm sorry," She apologized. Nicki turned around and looked at Louis and Daniela. "It's alright. Louis wait for me." Nicki said as she placed her laptop into her backpack. "No time!" Louis kept on walking. "Louis!" Nicki shouted. "Don't shout," Keira told her as she waited next to her. Nicki sighed. "Come on we'll be late for the bus if you don't hurry," Keira helped Nicki get her backpack out of her locker.
             Daniela and Louis made it outside. They both waited outside. Where the heck is Felix? Louis thought. Oh no. Melissa is gonna be mad that I left her, Daniela thought worryingly. Louis tapped his foot on the ground. In a few minutes, Felix and Melissa walked outside together. "Daniela!" They both called out. Melissa ran over to her. "We were supposed to walk together." "I know but," Daniela looked at Louis. She whispered in Melissa's ear the rest of her sentence. Melissa's eyes widened. She smiled. "Oh okay," Melissa laughed. "So I'll see you on the bus," Melissa waved to Daniela. She kept on walking to the bus. Daniela took a deep breath. She turned back around. Louis and Felix stood next to each other anxiously waiting. “Okay guys, this is it,” Daniela smiled, “I just want to let the both of you know that you’re great guys. Don’t worry if I don’t pick you, you’ll find the right girl someday. Plus, we’re only in seventh grade of Pete’s sake. Don’t worry.”
Daniela walked over to Felix. She took his hands, “Felix,” Daniela looked over at Louis. Louis looked downcast. Sting. She squeezed Felix’s hands, “I’m glad I had my experience with you,” Daniela reached up to his cheek and kissed him. “But I’m sorry.” She whispered in Felix’s ear. Felix’s eyes widened. She went back down and looked over at Louis. He looked with despair at her. Daniela smiled brightly at him. Louis opened his eyes wide and pointed at himself. She nodded. A big grin came upon his face and laughed. Louis ran to Daniela and picked her up and twirled her around. Felix, still in shock, stared at the both of them. Louis put her back down. Daniela looked over at Felix, “I’m sorry, I just felt this is where I belong.” A hand fell on Felix’s shoulder. He snapped out of his thoughts. Felix’s looked next to him. Frank stood next to him, grinning. Kate stood by Frank, smiling at Daniela and Louis. “It’s alright Felix.” Frank assured him. Felix took a deep sigh. He smiled sadly. “I guess it is.”
“Felix!” someone shouted. Felix turned around. His brother, Michael, stood at the sidewalk waving at him. “Come on!” He shouted. Felix took another deep sigh. “I guess I gotta go. I’m glad you’re happy.” Felix smiled at Daniela. He ran over to Michael and they walked away together.
Frank laughed, “I knew you could do it Louis!” Frank and Louis high-fived. “Congrats Daniela, I hope the best for you.” Kate congratulated. Daniela smiled at Kate, “Thanks, I hope for the best as well.” Louis wrapped his arms around Daniela and hugged her tightly. He kissed her on the cheek. “I’m gonna take you on another date.” Louis whispered in her ear. “Oh yeah, where?” Daniela whispered back. “You know.” Louis smirked at her. She thought for a moment. The secret park I’m guessing. “Oh alright.” Daniela closed her eyes and smiled brightly at him.
