"Breaking the news"

Indie was at home, drawing a "Happy Summer" card for Obi when the phone rang, "Hola, Indie Drake's wesidence! How can I help you?"
she curled the phone wire around her finger as the man on the other side spoke, "Hello Indie! Er, could you pass me onto your mother like a good girl, will you?" there was a sound of hustling and bustling as the patient man waited, "Hello?" "Hello Mrs Drake! This is Brendan, Brendan Syphilis, from the zoo, may we talk if you're not too busy?" Mrs Drake had a bad feeling, "Oh! of course, Mr..Eh... Mr-" "Mr Syphilis?" "Yes, Mr Syphilis, of course, I'm terrible with names! Yeah, yeah, so eh, what did you want to talk about?" there was a slight pause, "Well ma'am," continued the zoo keeper, "it's about Obi. Bad news I'm afraid." there was again, a slight pause, "Sorry Mr, eh, Mr zoo keeper, did you say *Obi*? I think you may have got the wrong-" "Oh sorry Mrs Drake, Obi is the zoo's turtle, your daughter named him!" they laughed for a while but Mr Syphilis soon enough stopped the laughter, "Erm, Mrs Drake, as you've probably heard, the animals in the zoo have been infected, infected by "Salmonella" a bacteria which could be caused by only one animal in the entire zoo;the turtle, and well, I'd hate to tell you that your daughter may be infected." the zoo keeper stopped talking, expecting Mrs Drake to shout and bawl at what she had just heard, but no, she had hung up on him.
