I wake up in an unfamiliar bed. Once I come to my senses, I realize it’s a hospital bed. On the other side of the door I hear voices whispering.
“Thank you so much. If it hadn’t been for you-”
“No, I just took her here. The doctors and nurses will aide-”
“We couldn’t if she wasn’t brought here.”
“Thanks, but I don’t have the money to pay…”
“It’s on us. You’re a kid. What’s your name? The reporters will be here soon.”
“Violet.”
“Get ready to be interviewed, Violet!”
“Actually, I’d rather not.”
I peered out just in time to see the girl speed away on my bike.
