2. Sarah
I’ve always been a shy girl. I don’t have many friends. But, even for me,it was a surprise on the first day of school when everyone ignored me. When I walked into the classroom, panting, no one looked up from their work. (I had been late that day.) That was normal though, but it put me slightly at unease when I walked up to the teacher’s desk, spoke, and she just stared through me.“Um, excuse me? Miss? Do you have any instructions for me?” I tried again.
“Emma, please come to my desk,” she said.
I spun around. A clumsy girl was making her way up the aisle of desks. Quickly I stepped to the side, because Emma was about to step on me.
“Yes, teacher?” Emma said, meekly.
“Please take this down to the secretary,” said the teacher primly, handing her an envelope.
Emma ran out of the room, clutching it tightly.
“What would you like me to do?” I asked the teacher, as patiently as I could muster.
She just went back to her paperwork, plainly without a care in the world.
“HELLO?” No reply. “HI! WHERE IS MY DESK?” No response. I turned to the class. “WHY IS SHE DOING THAT? IGNORING ME? DID SHE DO THAT TO YOU? WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON?” No answer. “CAN YOU SEE ME? HEAR ME? AM I NOTHING TO YOU?” I could hear crickets. “PLEASE TALK! THIS ISN’T FUNNY!” I waited in five quiet seconds, then I sped out the door, and into the hallway. I sunk down to the ground and curled myself into a tight ball. I started to weep hysterically, knowing that no one could hear.
