13. Sarah
“Sarah, darling, mommy’s here,” said a gentle voice. Now, the first thought that popped into my mind: Am I in a coma? Because, just saying, in my life, my dead parents don’t usually rouse from their graves in order to see me. But, I guess that’s just how much they love me.“Is this really mom, or is this some evil hag planning to take me away. I’m seriously leaning toward the hag thing, because I’m in a very unfamiliar place.”
The doctor laughed. “That was me. Did I creep you out?”
“I dunno, would you creeped out if a random voice mimicked your dead mother’s?”
For some strange reason, the doctor laughed again. But it’s not funny!
“Sarah, dear, do you feel OK? You were just in a coma, and it took a lot of work to keep you alive. So maybe you’re a little tense.”
“I was just in a coma???”
“I’m afraid so.”
“And you think I’m acting ‘A LITTLE TENSE’?”
“Why yes. Is there a problem?”
“Is there a problem? IS THERE A PROBLEM? OF COURSE THERE’S A PROBLEM!”
“Sarah, calm down. No need to get angry.”
“You’re treating me like some little kid with anger issues! You are not making me feel better! This hospital sucks! Now, if you excuse me, I’m going to go find my bike that was stolen under your watch!”
So I left.
