School Day
Val and I got to school an hour early. As soon as walked in, I was greeted by the kids walking down the halls. I'm not a cheerleader. The only reason I'm popular is because I'm nice and honest to everyone.I walked to my locker put my bag and books in and closed the locker door. Val walked over to me and we started talking about homework. Yeah, even though I'm popular, I'm a bit of a nerd. Everyone knows but they don't care.
You know how at every school there's the stereo types? Well, at my school there are 'groups'. No one chooses them, we just go in with no apparent reason. There's the jocks, cheerleaders, geeks, chess club kids, skaters, loners etc. I basically fall into every category.
The first bell rang at 8. Just like everyday. Valerie is in every class with me.
First I have Music. I got a pencil and walked to class. My teacher is Ms. Karmyn. She's a good teacher. I like how if someone doesn't get anything she splits us into groups. People that understand. And people that don't.
The next 5 classes went by fast. Then it was time for history.
For history I have Mr. Johnson. During class I started to daydream what life would be like with out my dad abusing me.
"... April can you please tell us what year Columbus sailed to America?" He asked testing me to see if I was listening.
"World war 2?" I blurted out without thinking.
Everyone laughed at my answer.
"Ms. Meyer if you're going to daydream I suggest you do that somewhere else" he said with a smile.
I nodded and followed along.
It was time to go home. I gathered my stuff and walked to my locker. When I was at my locker I couldn't concentrate on entering my combination right. I kept thinking of where or what had happened to my mom.
I imagine she would have light brown hair, sparkling blue eyes, a good sense of humor and be lovable.
While I was daydreaming... Again. Val came over to me and said "April, are you ready?"
I snapped back to reality and opened my locker. I put my books in my book bag and closed my locker door.
Valerie I decided to walk home. Even though its on the other side of the town, we decided we needed the exercise.
All the way home, I worried if my dad would hit me harder today or if he just wouldn't show up at home at all. The walk home seemed pretty short because we got to Val's house I what seemed like 5 minutes. It was actually 30 minutes.
We went up to her room and sat on her bed. I usually try to stay at her house until 6. Today, though, I stayed until 4.
I decided to go home early to just lie down and think. I haven't really done that in a long time.
