Braxton
When I said in seven short hours Id be seeing Landon. I was wrong, the hours ticked by ever so slowly. I had always been the impatient type. We all ate dinner quickly, than stared at our homework. I kept catching myself day dreaming about going and seeing Landon. Alicia ripped me out of my daydream."I need help, this is way to hard." She whined. Truth was I was just as lost as her, I couldn't do math, man I didn't make it past eight grade math.
"I don't understand it either." I told her.
I gave up on my homework. I decided I would read, I looked at the books on the shelf. I couldn't decide what to read. I would just randomly pick off the shelf and begin. The book I chose was about you girl, who was innocent. She was full rage towards her mom, and didn't understand why her dad would see her. She was just getting into high school, on the first day, she was made fun over her clothes. She told her mom, who was also young and hip. Her mom took her too get clothes. She went to school the next day and made friend with the most popular girl in school. She began to come less innocent, feeling the need to fit in, she began to tumble down in spiral. She was young, beautiful and lonely in her world. Just like me.
The lights finally went out, My heart leaped for joy. I went out to the living room and joined the girls in climbing out the window. We were out, we headed towards the trees, we were running. Suddenly cold hands grabbed me around the face and body. All I could think was I am in trouble.
"Don't scream." He whispered in my ear. It was just Braxton. Wait Braxton.
I turned around and leaped into his arms. Oh it was my buddy! I was so happy to see him, tears of joy were running down my face.
"What--what are you doing out here?" I asked
"Waiting for you, I've been watching you guys pass every night. But the last week you haven't been with them. Maggie is that her name (I shook my head yes), she told me you would be back tonight. She's told me all about this Landon guy. Tay, I don't approve (I frowned) he's bound to get you in trouble. Especially if you're leaving at night to see him in isolation and sneaking off to his house. What are you thinking?" He bellowed.
"Oh, Braxton come on. We're only having fun," I said."We better get out of here before the guards see us." I added.
He didn't say anything he just grabbed my hand and started guiding me out of the thick trees. He pulled me up a porch, the same porch I had hid under. He slowly, opened the window and pointed. I climbed in. His house was different than mine I could tell in the dark. He leaded me to the couch. I sat down, I knew he was mad at me. I never liked Braxton mad at me, It was depressing. He sat down and began to stare at me as if he was waiting for a better answer to justify myself. Truth was there was no way to justify myself besides that I liked Landon.
Finally he spoke.
"Listen, sneaking out isn't safe here, you could get hurt or worse dead." He said in a sad voice.
"I know." I said
"I beg you not to do it anymore." He said. Braxton was my best friend and I couldn't handle his pleading. I didn't know what to say.
We didn't see it coming, there was aloud wrap on the window behind us and a sudden flash of light. I dunked down but it was to late the guard had saw us. I couldn't help but look, the guard had a malicious smile. I was scared, scared for my life. The door busted open, to guards came in. One grabbed me, and the other grabbed Braxton. I wasn't going to Isolation with out a fight. They dragged us out into the gravel drive way. I didn't think I just did it. I kicked my leg up behind me as hard as I could. His tightened grip let go, in the chaos the other guard let Braxton go and we ran. I ran towards the road, Braxton right on my heals. The guards just stood there and let us go.
We ran up the road, we got to a bridge, and slunk down under it. All I could think was what next. Braxton was the first to speak.
"There is now way out" he said whispering in a panicky voice.
"What do you mean" I coughed.
"We're fenced in this place, about a mile in every direction is a fence." he explained. " You didn't notice he asked.
"No, but I'm sure we can figure it out there's got to be away." I said. I was trying not to panic.
I didn't realize how cold it was till time started to slowly pass by. We sat in silence, for a while. Till Braxton spoke first again.
"I'm scared" he said.
That was the first time I ever heard him say that. I scooted close to him and laid my head on his shoulder.
"Me too." I said.
