Harumi POV
"Harumi-Chan!" I turned around and there she was, my best friend Karin. She ran up to me. "Hey, what's up? Are you ready for another exciting year at Tokyo high?" "I guess so." I replied. "You guess? Really? That wasn't the kind of answer I was hoping for!" She started laughing. "I hear there's a hot, new guy who just transferred here! Wanna meet him?" "Nope, rather be studying then hanging out with a jerk." "What? He isn't a jerk!" "And would you know that? You haven't even met him!" "True but I heard it from other parents in the neighborhood. No one knows where he lives but it won't be long till girls stalk him." Karin giggled. "Yeah, whatever, not interested!" We approached the school gates and immediately went to check out our class. "Yay! We're in the same class! Come on!" Karin grabbed my hand and we quickly ran to the classroom. We entered and found a seat. "Oh! Look who it is!" I knew that voice, it was my only rival, Miyu-san. Her straight big, pink hair flew in my face. Se looked at me with her evil pink eyes and laughed. Miyu-San was the most popular girl in our school and she hates my guts. "Hello Miyu-San, see you haven't changed a bit." "I take that as a compliment. Oh and just so you know, back off the new guy. He's mine." She went back to chat with her stupid friends. After history, Karin had to take care of a couple of things since she's class rep. I went up the stairs when suddenly, Miyu pushed me. I screamed while falling. I thought I was gonna die but someone caught me. "Be more careful next time. Ok?" No way! That voice, that was Akito-kun. "Why if it isn't Harumi-Chan!" I pushed him away from me. "You know each other?" Miyu asked. "Why, of course. She's my cute step sister that I haven't seen in a long time. How have you been doing?" "Shut up! Don't think just because you suddenly came back after all these years that I'm gonna talk to you and be friends." A few students gasped. I slowly panted while he looked at me. "It's true. I've been away for so long but only to support the family." "Liar!" Students were whispering. Tears started forming but I held them in. He smiled. "Stupid girl! Did you think I really wanted to leave you? I love you! You're my sister for goodness sake!" "Step sister." I angrily whispered. "Harumi, what's going on?" Karin was staring blankly at both of us. "Nothing." I took her hand and walked away. He laughed. "Harumi! This isn't over! I'll see you at home." And he winked at me. What? He was moving in? I couldn't believe it. I wanted to punch him so bad but I couldn't start a fight at school, especially not with a worthless guy like him. Karin stopped. "Harumi? That guy. He's the new guy.... Is he your brother?" "Step brother!" I shouted. Karin backed away. "I'm sorry Karin. It's just... He left us and never came back. And I said that when he came back, I would never forgive him. It's a family problem, that's all. I'm sorry." I sympathetically smiled at Karin. She nodded and left. I sighed. I'm sorry Karin. "I left you and never came back?" Akito said. "So now I'm the bad guy?" His friends were all watching, hoping that there will be fighting. "Bad guy? You're not even close. You're, you're, you're the devil!" His eyes widened and he looked like he was about to cry. "So you're gonna cry now? You know, you shouldn't be the one wanting to cry, I should! You left me without a word. Mom got worried, she looked everywhere but never found you! Because of looking all the time she caught a sickness that was spreading around a neighborhood. Because of you, she's in the hospital!" He said nothing. "You're such a coward!" I pushed him and didn't react. His friends were staring, hoping that someone would get hurt. "Why don't you say anything? Huh? Are you just gonna stare like that at me and say nothing?" He gulped and looked away. "Don't you care about mom? About us? About me?" "I..." "You what? Don't care? I get that." I couldn't take it anymore. My senses were telling me to punch him but... Who was I kidding? He just didn't care. I touched my hands and went for it. My fist punched his cheek and he fell on the floor. He was coughing blood. "That's for leaving us." I then kicked him. "And that's for not caring!" I wanted to punch him again but Karin came running and stopped me. I hugged Karin and cried, cried all those tears that were held back for years. Just because I didn't want mom to worry. Karin re comforted me and brought me away. Akito just lied there on the ground. Akito, I hate you! I hate you so much!
