Chapter 3
Scade's Point Of View:I feel bad about lying to Bella like that but I couldn't just tell her the truth could I? She was just my prisoner. But I seem to be forgetting that. I look at her guiltily and see her eyes glistening with tears. We drive in silence all the way into the hotel. When I see the flashing lights creating shadows I look up to see a massive hotel. I am not shocked. I am not awed. I can not forgive myself for lying to Bella.
"Come on then," she says, her voice strangled. I nod and she walks off briskly, striding into reception. I start to follow her but a thought hits me. What if the police are looking for the car? They would be searching all the different car parks to the one that matched their number-plate. Number-plate. I turned and headed the the registration plate on the back of the car and drew out my pocket knife. I tried to saw it off but the knife was too weak. Damn. Something else red caught my eye. A fire extinguisher. I walked over, hoisted it off the stand and heaved it towards the police car. I whacked it against the side and the number-plate unhinged a bit. Just a few more hits. But before I could take a second swipe, white foam sprayed out from the extinguisher and exploded in my face. I shrieked and tried to direct it away but I dropped it in the process. Damn, damn, damn, damn. It had wedged itself underneath the car, pressing down and squeezing out more white foam. Battling furiously, I ripped off the remains of the number-plate and threw it into the bushes. Bella looked casually out of the reception window. I waved to her but she stared at me in confusion.
"What the heck?" she mouthed at me. I shrug meekly. At least I got the number-plate off.
