Chapter 16
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Niall asked doubtfully when he saw me the next week. We'd been planning our escape - sorry, 'journey' to Hollywood for the whole week."You don't want to pull out now, do you?" I teased.
"No, I just-"
"Good. I'll talk to dad and distract him while you sneak into the plane. Simple."
"Okay," Niall said slowly. I raised an eyebrow and ran over to my dad who seemed to be almost guarding the plane.
"Dad?"
"Yes?"
"Do you trust me?" I could see Niall creeping over to the plane.
"I'm your father!"
"That wasn't my question. Do you trust me?" I repeated. Niall was in the plane now, waiting for me.
"Well - I- er-"
"Yes?"
"To be honest, no, I don't trust you."
"Then you shouldn't be surprised by this." I kneed him in the chin. He sprang back in shock and clutched his face in agony. That was all I needed. I sprinted to the plane and jumped in beside Niall as the door slid closed.
"Come back here now, Niall Barnes!" My dad roared. "Or you're fired!"
"I'll rehire you in a few weeks when I'm eighteen," I begged, watching the doubt on his face. He considered this, and then nodded.
"Bella! Niall! You come here NOW before I call in a helicopter after you!"
The embarrassment that would cause...it was worth seeing Scade again, just one more time. "Bye dad!" I shouted over the noise of the plane, and we were off, up in the sky. I could see my dad shaking his fist and yelling, but I couldn't hear him.
"Do you think I did the right thing?" I asked doubtfully.
"Of course, Miss Bella."
I beamed at him and enjoyed the view, watching my town from a Birdseye view. My eyelids felt heavy and soon the power of sleep took over.
