Ring O' Roses

RING O' ROSES OR RING AROUND THE ROSEI

Ring o roses, a funny nursery rhyme with children giggling and at the falling to the ground in a fit of laughter.
But, this sweet song isn't so sweet as we thought.

Lyrics.

(British version)

Ring-a-ring o' roses,
A pocket full of posies,
A-tishoo! A-tishoo!

We all fall down.

Ring-a-ring o' roses,
A pocket full of posies,
A-tishoo! A-tishoo!
We all fall down.

Fishies in the water,
Fishies in the sea,
We all jump up,

With a 1-2-3!

(American version)

Ring-a-round the rosie,
A pocket full of posies,
Ashes! Ashes!

We all fall down.

Hush! Hush! Hush! Hush!

We've all tumbled down.

Now it's time for the decoding.

The verse " ring around the Rosie"

During 1665 England was having outbreaks of the Black Death. Some of the symptoms where Rosie blotches with rings around them.

" pocket full of posies"

One doctor believed the disease was air born. He had the infected carry herbs in there pocket believing it would protect them.

" ashes ashes"

We know millions of people died. But what happened to there bodies? They where all dumped into piles and cremated that's what.

" we all fall down"

For those of you who need explaining, we all drop dead.

I hope your satisfied knowing the truth.

Why? Why would they have a baby's death in a lullaby that some of your parents sang to you when you were a child it's not very reassuring

@Eridan_Ampora I was learned that it was about the plague. Because "Ring around the rosie" means it's highly contagous.
"Ashes, ashes" meaning they'd burn the bodies of people who died of the plague.
Lastly "We all fall down" meaning that alot of people got it.
