Starting the Games

I stand on my platform.All around me are tributes.My goal is to escape the bloodbath.Just go straight for the woods.I'll get supplies later.The gong goes off and I run.I reach the woods in record time and find a little cavern.I take a seat.A couple minutes later 11 cannons go off signalling that the bloodbath is over.I wonder who lived.I know the girls from Districts 11 & 12 survived.I saw them run into the woods.The tributes 1,2 and maybe 4 are still alive.They cause the bloodbath so of course they are.Oh well,I'll find out tonight.I should've picked allies.All I can do is throw knives and identify some insects.I don't know what's safe to eat.Suddenly,a good strategy comes to my mind.I'll steal from the other tributes.They couldn't possibly want to eat something poisonous.This way,i'll have food.But I have to be careful to only take a little.If I take too much then the others might start to get suspicious.I get up carefully and step toward the mouth of the cave.No one is out there I take a few cautious steps out then retreat back into the cave and look again.After 5 minutes of repeatedly doing this,I walk out all the way.I dive under a bush and look around.I have to be very cautious.This is the Hunger Games.Not District 5.But even in District 5 I had to watch my words & actions.If I did anything the Peacekeepers didn't like,i'd be in for a rough,public whipping.That's just the way it is.I quietly climbed the nearest tree and hopped onto the next.Climbing and hopping aren't my specialty,but I can still do them pretty well.Finally,I reach the camp the Careers have set up.I realize,with a sudden jolt,that Cato & Glimmer are setting up land mines.I watched where they put them.Then watched how they got in & out.Then,when they left,I tried.I got a loaf of bread and a green backpack.Good.Now I need water...I walk back through the mines.I might survive after all.
