Chapter 28- Soldier, Poet, King
I took his hand and he smiled a little. Suddenly everything around us seemed to shift, and turn. It got dark really fast. I felt odd. Dizzy and lightheaded. Then Scratch spoke."Close your eyes."
As soon as I did I felt better. After a minute or so I felt my feet touch onto rough ground. A chilly wind blew but it wasn't overly cold. I opened my eyes and gasped.
We stood atop a large grassy hill. There was a single large oak tree, and the moon looked humongous. It looked so close you could make out every detail. It felt magical.
"I'm the only one who knows this place. We can talk here in safety."
"You still haven't told me what this is all about."
"It's about the demons, and Solus. That's his name right?"
I nodded.
"How did you know his name?"
"We have a giant archive about our enemies and allies alike. Its full of history from places we've pillaged, and our own writings."
"Wow. That's.. actually really impressive."
"Mhm." He rubbed the back of his neck.
"So why are you telling me this?"
"Because I trust you. The archive is supposed to be secret, but I trust that you won't tell anyone."
"Your putting a lot of faith into me" I raised an eyebrow.
"I have no other choice."
I thought for a moment. He was acting awkward, almost anxious. Like he was worried something bad was going to happen. I looked up at him and asked.
"So.. What about Solus?"
"I believe that he is stronger then we think. Allow me to explain."
He turned and tapped the air. Purple and black lines appeared, making a image of... a family tree?
"How an angel looks is usually passed down from parent to child. However, their magic is not. Every angel has different magic and different looks... But their power levels are alike. I believe that Solus's parents are powerful. And I believe he has some of their power."
I nodded, interested. Scratch pointed to the family tree.
"That is the king. Or, what used to be him. His name was Escanor the Wise. He earned that title fairly, if the records are anything to go by."
"When did he die?"
Scratch looked at the family tree and tilted his head from side to side while he thought.
"Roughly 400 years ago"
My eyes widened a bit in surprise.
"To a angel that's not long ago."
"Yeah. He died in a war."
"What war?"
"I'll tell you later. Escanor had 3 sons. Drake, Wren, and Bane. Drake was a warrior. He fought a lot of the battles and took over the throne for about a 150 years before he died. Wren was quiet, but a complete genius. He chose not to rule the throne, and so became the leader of a group of trackers known as the 'Kings Dagger'. As far as I know they all died off when the angels perished. The third and final son, Bane, was a mix of his two older brothers. He was smart, and he was strong. So he became the most respected general in angel history."
He saw the confusion in my face.
"What is it? Did I say something odd?"
"No its just that.. Trackers? What are trackers?"
He took a deep breathe and sighed.
"There are four types of angels. Guardians, Protectors, Trackers, and Warriors."
When I didn't say anything, he continued.
"They each have their own role, and angels are naturally sorted into them. Simply put, they just become whatever feels right. It's not often it runs in the family. I believe that your boyfriend, Solus, is a guardian type angel."
I felt my face heat up.
"He's not my boyfriend!"
"Sorry, I kind of assumed. You know, cause you two were close and he threatened me."
"He did what?!"
"Uh... Nevermind." He smiled apologetically. I crossed my arms and looked away as I tried to recover. To be honest, when he said boyfriend I was both filled with glee and surprise. I looked at him. He seemed happy, but he tried to hide it.
"What?"
"Nothing. Honestly forget about it."
"Ok?"
He cleared his throat.
"Now then, allow me to continue."

After all, I am a whiz with quizzes
Susie went on a walk across See More the park. Suddenly--
The word 'suddenly' adds suspense, and makes you want to know what happens next. You read on, often quicker, to match the pace of the story.
When your ending a chapter, put something that finishes your thought, yet has potential to open up the next chapter. I'm not sure how to make an example of this, so just look at the last sentence or words at the end of my chapters. It SHOULD make you think, make you wonder, what is going to happen next. Or even make some theories in your head for later in the book.
Out of curiosity, what do you think is going to happen next in my book?
@moonston
I hope I'm not confusing. that's one tip.
@moonston
For example, Ash (which can be a boy or a girl), has problems with their magic, and feels like Solus is kind and mysterious. She thinks he is powerful, but holding See More back.
In Solus's opinion (which I don't want to spoil anything so I'll be vague), doesn't feel right in the class. He is different, and everyone knows he's differernt, so he hides his secrets and thoughts well. In chapter 7, he starts taking more notice in Ash, cause she helped him.
@moonston
