Chapter 12- Rainbow Eyes

After a moment of awkward silence, I put my hand over his. He blushed and looked at me.
"Its alright, you don't have to tell me. I'm sorry for asking such personal questions."
He smiled, then kissed my cheek, completely surprising me. He stood up and slipped his hand from mine.
"It's alright, I don't mind."
He turned and took a few steps away, looking at the sky. My face felt hot. I can't believe he just kissed my cheek. I felt a strange thrill inside of me.
"Let's head back."

It is 10:30 at night. I'm staring at the roof of my room, thinking. Something is going on with Solus, and I hope one day he will trust me enough to tell me. But for now I'm still thinking of when he kissed me. It keeps playing on repeat in my mind. And when he flew with me? I had never been more free. Does Solus feel free? I did not know.
I sat up and yawned, looking at my clock as it bleeped in and out to signify the seconds. I sighed. I had better get to sleep. Tomorrow will be a long day.
As I fell asleep, I remembered the look in his rainbow eyes...

The next day, I arrive at school. I feel strangely excited, as if I'm looking forward to something. That feeling quickly fades when I hear the bells signifying I'm late to my first class. I run, rushing to my locker.
"No, No, No.. I can't be late. I'm going to--"
I bang into someone, and low and behold its Solus.
"o-oh.. hi."
"Hey, are you alright?"
"F-fine" I was acting so nervous it was stupid. I opened my locker and shoved my stuff into it. I turned to Solus.
"Hurry lets get to class! Wait.. Why ARE you standing by the lockers? Shouldn't you be in class?"
"Class got cancelled for the day."
"Oh"
"Well, I'll be right back. I'm going to get a snack, I missed breakfast."
I hesitated, then followed him.
"Can I come with you?"
"Sure. I doubt I could shake you anyways." He smiled.

We licked ice-cream cones. The snack bar is filled with goodies just waiting to be opened, and the ladies in charge didn't mind sharing when Solus paid them the proper amount of money. Normally they would be strict about snacking during class hours, but they seemed stunned around Solus.
As if to go against the good mood, Henry showed up.
"What are you two losers doing?", he grinned.
Solus ignored him. Following his lead, I did the same.
"You, angel boy, I saw what you did in gym. You made a fool out of my best friend, and the fights he can't handle I handle."
Solus glanced at him, and shrugged.
"Ok"
"So are you going to fight me or not?"
"I would rather not" He took a bite out of his ice-cream.
"Why? You scared?" At this point I wanted to pummel him. Solus smiled and looked at Henry, confusing us both.
"Do you honestly believe I am scared?" His voice sounded casual, but behind it was power. Henry swallowed.
"Well your a big chicken" Henry's voice sounded weak.
"If that's true, then it means your a cow." I giggled, covering my mouth.
"Excuse me!?"
"I won't bother explaining it to you. Have a good day"
He fumed in silence, then walked away muttering.
"Watch yourself, Angel spawn."
