(first chapter)
A strong looking german shepherd, around eight years old, was stalking away from a burned barn. Some embers still glowed, and the place was covered in ash and soot. In the darkness, the burned barn glowed faintly, illuminating the dog’s fur. She flicks her ears, pausing. In the german shepherd’s jaws was a small bundle of fur. The tiny three week old husky was skinny and limp.
This strange dog, with glowing blue eyes, well she continues onwards, her long bushy See More tail sweeping the snow covered ground.
This lone dog has traveled her whole life a loner, and had remained like that for her whole life up to now. She had been hunting the forest when she smelled smoke, she ran to it to see fleeing humans. She had heard yelping, and bravely entered the flaming building to save the poor three week old pup. Abandoned….and I can’t leave him here to die.. she had thought as she ran outside pup in jaws.
Now she was slowly climbing a hill, trying to calm her beating heart. The pup made the slightest sound. A tiny squeak, but at least the pup was alive. As she reached the top of the hill, she placed the pup down and dug away the snow. She places the pup in the snow less area,
“Where to you come from pup?” The german shepherd asks, her voice low. She couldn't let the humans hear her barking.
The pup stares at her. ‘Gr-grew up in t-the ba-barn ma'am.”
She looks at the barn, a distant look in her eyes. “Right..what's your name? I can't call you pup forever.”
The pup looks at his paws. “Sh-Shadow, ma'am.”
“Shadow…” She echos. “I am Echo.”
“Nice name, m-ma’am.” Shadow stammers.
She nodded to show she heard. “Thank you. We shouldn't stay here for long, and we should probably stop barking.”
The husky nodded, closed his eyes, and opened them after a moment.
Echo walks off, Shadow scrambling after her. There paw steps were covered by more falling snow.
