What is the difference between "job" and "profession"?

Profession: a job that involves prolonged training and formal qualification.
Job: when you're payed to do something, anything.
Job: when you're payed to do something, anything.

They're pretty much the same thing, except professions are used to signify high-status jobs, like an athlete/scientist
