Do you think that Harry Potter is much better than Lord of the Rings? I think Harry Potter's better, honestly. Lord of the Rings is a bit boring!

lord of the rings is slow (then again so is HP) but even though they're both fantasy, each is an entirely different plot, time period, and realm. Gonna be hard to compare them
Lord of the rings has some really boring parts, really!
There's also a difference in writing style and I think it's why people that don't like hp love Lotr and hp fans can't read Lotr without taking year long breaks.
Harry potter is very active and this tone lives in the movie to. Shown by how the camera follows wizards zooming at a hundred miles per hour in the sky.
Lotr is told like a fairy tale an has a classical See More writing style, which is reflective of the fantasy world it's set in. So like a fairy tale, the writing is less active and seems to come from a third voice; the narrator. Many shots from the Lotr movie are wide and slow as the characters appear small and insignificant to the bigger picture.
I prefer the more active voice because I can get really tired if I'm not invested in the world. (Lotr has some good world building but I'm not a fantasy fan)

Just depends on your tastes, tbh. If you wanna go by the books, it's pretty boring, same with HP. Movies are a different story however because they cut out majority of the needless detail

Maybe it's because I was forced to watch lord of the rings, a six hour something movie, way past my bedtime when I was nine, and I hated the movie personally for robbing me of my beauty sleep, but I wasn't an Lotr fan. (Tried reading the books a few months ago and they were different, nicer than I expected, less boring but hard to follow with a lot of characters. Harry Potter outshines The Lord of the rings big time anyway.)
