It's Christian, because St. Peter felt that he wasn't worthy to be crucified like Jesus was, so he was crucified upside down.

The actual Satanic cross is the alchemical symbol for sulfur, possibly because sulfur is extremely flammable and explosive in big batches, as is Hell.
