If you're thinking of getting a small dog, please don't from experience they're usually dumber than the larger breeds. Getting a mix is best since you get all the pros (and some cons) of every breed! I recommend a lab or retriever and do get it spayed or neutered. As for toys I recommend some squeaky things and get some hard to destroy ones preferably made of rope. Your dog might like to gnaw on shoes, if so get a pair of shoes just for them. When their young they will probably See More jump up on you or others when they enter the house. If so stand still and tell others to, the dog will soon calm down. A frisbee or a ball is ideal for the fact that if your dog ignores it you can use it your self. Instead of punishing them just reward them when the do the right things and over time they will learn to do the agreeable things. Take your dog for at least two walks a day. Let them interact with other dogs but if it gets tense lead the dog away. Giving the dog a nickname is optional but is fun.
Be prepared for a smelly dog, for when you're on a walk he/she will roll on something disgusting and will REEK!!
Make sure to bring your dog to the vet often and keep an eye out for "accidents" be cause they might indicate sickness.
Your dog doesn't need treats for rewards just attention.
WARNING: Be aware that a dog's health care is costly but the it's worth it.
Make sure there's no smokers around him or her.
Lastly, HAVE FUN!!!!

If it gives you a hard time or does something you don't want it to do; beat it. x3 it's the only way it'll learn. And if you want it to learn quickly; beat it HARD :P
That's animal abuse! What the crap! You don't just go around beating things up!

It's called a squirt gun! Oh my God, you'll injure it badly or make it scared of you! Hitting or kicking or injuring it IS animal abuse! That is the DEFINITION of animal abuse!

xD lol it's not abuse :3 it's teaching it and it's probably the only way it'll learn. you don't just do nothing. If you do nothing the dog will think it's okay and do it again.
