The telomeres from our X-chromosomes grow shorter as they split, causing us to age. If we can prevent them from becoming shorter, we would stay young longer and we would be able to add years to our lifespans. This has been done to rats in science labs.
The scientists who did a special experiment on the rats made them live longer. The rats with the special treatment stayed young and lived longer than the rats without the treatment.
That's what I've learned about aging, because See More I was curious, too. The longer the telomeres, the longer we can live and vice versa. With long telomeres, we would be able to maintain our youth longer. Right now, scientists are trying to figure out how to prevent early aging. They're also trying to help living beings expand their lifespan.
