So you might not want to listen to me, since I'm only eleven, but I've read plenty of teen books though:
Across the Universe, A Million Suns by Beth Revis (action romance) (THE best books out of all of these I've listed)
Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant by Veronica Roth (action romance)
The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (action romance)
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green (tragic romance)
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater (slight romance, See More mostly action [some parts may be gruesome, depending on how well you take it all in])
The Testing, Independent Study, Graduation Day by Joelle Charbonneau (action romance)
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (:(()
Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer (I personally disliked this series but many love it, sooo... it's up to you) (action romance)
Incarceron, Sapphique by Catherine Fisher
The Harry Potter series (but I suggest skipping the prologue for the first book, and skipping the Order of the Phoenix, too, because it was a little boring)
The Fire Within series by Chris D'Lacey (I read this series two years ago, in third grade-- but make of that what you will; it was still a pretty good series; I can't remember if teens could read this or not, but the last book of the series, Dark Fire, I think would be appropriate for teenagers)
For those more intellectually skilled readers who enjoy difficult reads: (I couldn't even FINISH this book)
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
DEFINITELY: The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
The Clockwork Angel series, also by Cassandra Clare

Its your pick what books you like for yourself. Go to the teens section in your library, or if teen books are kind of too easy for you try reading adult books that are nonfiction.
