Why are hugs written as o and kisses written like x? Like in a card you would write xxx or xoxo

O I think symbolizes a whole, two souls come together in one, an X has the shape of lips, a kiss can be. xoxo can mean hugs and kisses.

you make an O when you wrap your arms around someone. when you pucker your lips, the inside corners make an X.

I do it the opposite way. x=hug and O=kiss because when you hug someone or yourself your arms fold in an x and when you kiss someone you pucker up your lips and make an o with them

cause when u kiss u can pucker ur lips which makes a little x & ur hands wrap around the person ur huggin makin an o.

Because people don't understand that O is the shape of your mouth and X stands for wrapping your arms around a person... that's why. :)
