HELP!!!! Sleeping problems.. I've had insomnia for 2 years and a half. I can't fall asleep even when I'm tired, i don't know why. I go to bed at 10 and fall asleep at 2-5 usually. Sometimes I stay up through the whole entire day, which is very bad because I don't want to be an Insomniac!!! All the sleep I've missed is the reason why all my friends are all taller than me. What should I do??? # I will follow people with the best, helpful answers

Do you listen to calming music? I think they say it helps if you do nothing but sleep in your bed, don't eat or excersice too soon before bed, and limit electronics. I know how you feel, ive never had it to that extreme but I do on occasion, it was much worse when I was younger.
Sorry ;(

Your sleep will be affected by your general metabolic rate, which is controlled by your thyroid gland. If you are feeling either very sluggish or, conversely, finding it very difficult to relax, you could ask your doctor to check your thyroid function; this is done with a simple blood test, and can be corrected if necessary with thyroid hormones or other medication.

Well, in health we learned that exercise during the day and a balanced diet helps with sleep. Try getting in bed a little earlier, to buy some more time to actually fall asleep. Be sure your as comfortable as possible, and keep your at a good temperature. I've heard that chamomile tea or warm milk helps alot too. Reading is also very calming. This is all I could come up with, but I hope it helps:))

Talk to your doctor or try melatonin. I use it. It is a natural pill that just helps you fall asleep. There aren't risks like dying or anything. You can find it at cvs.

Having Insomnia? I have insomnia too. I cannot sleep at night, so I take sleeping pills. Melatonin(Zarbee’s Naturals) is my personal suggestion. It is for kids and adults.

Melatonin (a hormone I believe, I can't remember what) helps. Music can help, but if you're anything like me, you can't sleep with music.
Eating does help some if it's balanced, too. (Basically if you're craving something you should probably go eat it.)
However, insomnia isn't always fixable. Just from personal experience of my mom having the same problem (and doing all these things)
Certain noises do help (such as a fan, tv, speech, ect)

Advice: looking at screens (computer screens, cellphone, TV...) is a BAD idea if you want to sleep.

It sounds like your insomnia is worse than most, so I would definitely tell your doctor. There is medicine for insomnia out there, you may want to consider that.

read write listen to music and just get your mind off it. I have taken a (good tasting) melt in your mouth medicine that should take care of it. I don't remember what it's called exactly but if you look up medicine to help sleep it should show MANY results!!! ok I hope that helped at the least. I wouldn't know much about it since I am a sleep hoar. I would like to apologize before hand if I have copied anyone.

If you lie in bed and it's like 12pm but you still can't get to sleep, try getting up and doing something else instead of spending all your time trying to get to sleep in bed. I saw a programme about insomnia and it worked for this guy so it might worlk for you? Sorry if this reealy doesn't work I have no experience with insomnia sorry

Me too!!! I've had insomnia since I was really little. I mean, i don't have it every day, but around 3 or 4 times a month. But what I do, is I do NOTHING for an hour before bed, and when I can't sleep, I think of the most boring thing i can think of. (for me, its math) For me, COUNTING SHEEP DOES NOT WORK. I think about the sheep and think and think and think and think til im thinking about sheep dancing in a ballet class. NEVER take naps or sleep in the middle of the day. Also, See More if you think "I need to go to sleep NOW. Oh, dang it now im gonna be tired in the morning, and im gonna fail my test......" you will never fall asleep. If all else fails, take a benedril that has "drowsyness" on it. hope this helps:)

Lay down in your bed, close your eyes, and breath very calmly and quietly. Your breathing is shallower when you are sleeping, so it helps your body begin to rest. When I want o fall asleep and can't, I do this.
