Help, I have been dealing with this for a long time. I have been "daydreaming" ever since I was a little kid, and then I went through a very traumatic event, and it got worse. Yes, I think I have post traumatic stress disorder, but I think it may be more than that. I feel like a robot doing things, just going along with everything and I kind of daze out doing anything, from walking to class to just reading. What really worried me was when I got my first driving lesson from my dad, and I felt like I wasn't there, which is a very scary feeling especially since I am putting in risk me and my dads' life. Although I think I have ADD, I have always done very good in school, but after school, I'm so exhausted from trying to concentrate so hard and I don't socialize or anything. Does anyone know what this could be? Am I right in thinking it's ADD? Can 18 year olds be diagnosed with ADD? Help?

Go to a doctor and explain how you feel, only him can tell you what you have. If you start to imagine some diseases mean you are a hypochondriac. Relax and go to a doctor, it will help you. Take care.

The traumatic experience can change people. If you let that rule your life, then your screwed. Every child and most adults feel like there are ' going though the motions ' like when my parents divorced, I went perfect, perfect grades, manners, and everything else. Then I realized that I thought if I was perfect, they could be perfect too. I now know that's not how it works, and if you feel like that, like youNEED to be someone else, try and think about the times you know you are See More YOU.

1. yes, an 18 year old can be, there's no limit to diagnostics.
2. as for your "daydreaming", as you call it, do you mean you are just going through the motions? I feel the same, a lot actually (some of my posts here and other sites reflect it when I can finally be me).
3. If i may ask, (and feel free to message me privately) but what was your traumatic event? It could differ in how it affects a person. Of course, don't message me about that if it's too.. person.
My apologies See More if I am too abrupt of un-understanding. But I hope I helped, feel free to message me whenever ;)

I think you should try to focus more often, and try doing things you really love/loved. As for daydreaming, everyone does that at some point, but if you are starting to feel robotic, then try to do something that requires focus or lots of movement (Art etc.)
Sorrrrrrry if i acted to rigid/proper/not understanding, but you can always message me when you need to talk:)
And I'm sorry if i didn't help....:(

It might be too late for you. You need to imprint on a close friend. Try to open up to someone before it gets you.

You might possibly have depression along with post tramautic stress disorder based on what I read on your description of going through everything like a robot. Therapy will help a lot, I promise!

It's not that abnormal. Lots of people disassociate from reality and find that it's hard to "wake up" from their own world.
