It's dystopia like badwolf_divergent said. Dystopia is a distorted future, usually with a controlling power/government and a group of people trying to break free of their power. Hunger Games is another dystopian series.

K thanks cos I was pretty sure it wasn't sci-fi because that genre usually has like spaceships and planets and phasers and all that

I would call it Dystopian Fiction but if you want to keep it simple I would register it under Fantasy or Sci Fi.
