Diet for aphonia (loss of voice)-
Avoid foods that contain carbohydrates, and alcohol or caffeine.-
Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day.-
Drink fruit juice mixed with honey.-
Avoid smoking, active or passive.-
Eat fruits and vegetables, such as ginger, garlic, figs, and black pepper.-
Drink a cup during treatment with milk you add a little black pepper.- Take care.

Follow these very simple steps:
DO NOT LET HER SPEAK!!!!!!!!! That will just wear out her vocal cords maybe even permanently damaging her.
Drink JUICE like a Capri Sun or a Juicy juice it soothes it and it seems to help more than water.
Drink more water when your not drinking juice.
It soft foods like lima beans and mashed potatoes instead of hard chips and avoid eating sweets.
If you need to talk use a notebook that she can write the answer in.
If it worsens or stays for more See More than 3 days see a doctor and get an antibiotic
Before that last step, try a decongestant to clear out anything stuffing up or drying out the throat. Check temperature at least once a day.
