the lunar republic vs solar empire is basically a debate on whether you prefer Luna or Celestia and which one you believe is the rightful queen of Equestria. some fans of the debate often depict luna as a rebel leader who's goal is to overthrow Celestia's rule and set in place some kind of republic. On the other hand Celestia is depicted as a leader trying to See More protect the kingdom as it is being seized by Luna.
