Backstory: When he was 12, his older sister had caught the disease and it nearly drove her insane. The procedure helped to bring back the calm sister he knew, but not the loving sister he knew. It was like her eyes had glazed over and she'd had no sympathy after she was cured. The cure drove his See More mother insane a couple years later and that confirmed his decision. He now plans to run away into the wilds one week before his procedure next year, not caring if he will catch the disease from an Invalid.
