Constraints are:
- 4 quatrains
- no adjectives, adverbs, or similes,
- the word "lime"
- alternating lines of 8 and 10 syllables
Yonder Sky
A lime in the sky, there yonder
The moon, a glowing orb of seething light
Glowering up in the Earth's skies
Upon me as I walk in the moonlight
A shadow crosses over me
Almost covering my entire face
An owl, perched on a branch, spots me
And glides off into the night's depth
I watch him as he flies, soaring

This is a poem I had to write for creative writing class, following a list of constraints.
Constraints are: (each number represents a line and the 3rd one represents 5 lines)
1. begin the poem with a metaphor using lipstick, death, and discreet
2. say something specific but utterly preposterous
3. use at least one image for each of the 5 senses, in succession
4. use one example of synesthesia (mixing the senses)
5. use the proper name of a person and the peopler name of a place

I know many of you didn't know that about my mother, and I am not asking for pity. I just wanted to let you know what has been going on, and one of the reasons why I haven't been on Qfeast a lot lately. Yes, I have been through a lot, but things will get better. I'm sure of it.

As of late my mother has been getting worse. She was diagnosed with a disease called Multiple Sclerosis, or MS in '05 but recently her rate of decline has increased. Her nerves are slowly being severed to her feet, legs, lower body, and it's slowly creeping up her body. It is not terminal, but it is still terrible to watch. She can no longer walk, and is in a wheelchair. My father just got a hip replacement a few weeks ago, and has only recently gone back to work. As the sole See More income, it is hard for our family because he works like an hour and a half away. But she is getting more help than she used to. Now someone comes in and prepares the meals and cleans and stuff because she can't. It's hard though because I am entering high school as a Freshman this year and taking all upperclassman classes including Creative Writing with a teacher that has only taught college, Algebra 2, Modern U.S. History, and Chorus. So even though I am learning a ton, it is very stressful because I don't know what's going to happen. But I do have the cutest puppy in the world, (a fluffy, orange pomeranian) and he cheers me up a lot.

Grandfather's Hand
The knurled roots of an ancient oak
come to life in the soft glow
of the late Autumn moon
and wave gently back.
The red oak of California
that has stood for countless seasons
and weathered many a storm.
"What have you learned
in all your years
from misery and strife?
And if you could
turn back the clock,
would you,
or would you not?"
