This is a collection of the first poems I have posted here, and I created them at a writing camp I went to in 2012. It was called Young Author's Camp, or Camp Write-Away. Hope you like the poems!

Vocab for a Creative Writing class of mine

Vocab: (Yes I memorized all of these)

Portmanteau - the combination of words to make one words (also a suitcase) - (smaug, pomapoo)
Sedulous - dedicated
Caduceus - staff that is a symbol of the medical profession - (also staff of hermes)
Simulacrum - an image or representation of something - (wax figure, doll, representing someone)
Dolor - a state of great sadness or distress
Viridescent - greenish or becoming green
Ziggurat - an ancient babylonian temple

Attenuate - reduce the force of
Avaricious - really greedy for money
Chthonic - beneath the Earth
Confabulate - chat
Crepitate - make a crackling sound
Crepuscular - light at twilight
Cunctation - hesitation
Deference - respect, humble submission to another
Delphian - deliberately obscure
Glabrous - bald
Grig - a lively person
Niggle - bothersome, annoying, irritate
Ouroboros - the image/symbol of a snake eating its tail
Penultimate - second to last
Pleonasm - use of more words than necessary
Pluvious - rainy
Protean - changeable
Salacious - vulgar
Saturnine - gloomy
Sesquipedalian - prone to using HUGE words
Solecism - grammatical error
Tintinnabulation - the ringing of bells
Troglodyte - someone that lives in a cave
Zephyr - a gentle breeze
Nictate - to wink
Aegis - protection
Aposiopesis - breaking off in the middle of a sentence
Balderdash - nonsense
Borborygmus - grumbly-tummy noise
Obsequious - WAY too eager to help someone that’s important
Obstreperous - stubbornly and loudly defiant
Cockalorum - small man with a large opinion of himself
Contumacious - VERY rebellious
Crapulous - prone to drunkenness
Defenestration - the act of throwing someone out a window
Masticate - chewing
Tenebrous - dark and gloomy
Ululate - howl
