They don't do that as much in the newer movies, but yeah. That's why I love Brave: there is no actual villain except the heroine herself; it's her own actions that she has to learn from. She's not especially pretty (or particularly charming), but she's relatable. She fights with her mom, she wants independence, and she learns how to compromise and be selfless.

How a bunch of the villains are clarified as ugly, how a lot of wild animals crowd around a princess when they sing, and how they build up some princesses to be PERFECT, I get they are showing kids how to act, but no one is that perfect.
