Check Mate
What the heck is this? Glaring at my computer screen, I glared at the several sequenced of continuous numbers. No sender. Unknown. Working my magic, I tried figuring out who Unknown could be. Nothing.
Now, I work as a programmer, so I should of been able to find this with my grey eyes closed. Well, whoever made this didn't think any one could crack it. Maybe. They were right. The time slowly ticked away as I spend my time searching through every obstacle to find out who the sender could be.
Suddenly, I saw my avatar, a light grey blue wolf, jumping up and down trying to warn me of the programs I was getting into. Perhaps, my little friend was right. I shouldn't try to worry so much about the sender. How bad could it be? But, the sequence makes no sense. Then, it clicked in my head. I started messing with the email again and discovered some of the names of who received this message.
To my shock, a lot of Admins from Tabi were sent the mysterious email along with several other users. Some of the names caught my attention, but I did not feel like starting drama where drama did not exist. Old family grudges never turn out good.
Ignoring the other receivers, I bit my pale lip and grabbed a piece of paper along with a pen. Number by number, I wrote every number down trying to figure out the strange pattern. Could it be numbers disgusted as words? It made the most sense to me.
Hours ticked back as I realized I finally might have solved the riddle, but still something did not add up. Was I missing letters? While I was a still checking out some numbers, I faintly realized my phone ringing. Picking it up, I heard the roaring voice of my co-worker.
"Where are you? You are always early!" He screamed through the phone.
Rubbing my hands over my grey eyes, I answered, "Dang. I let time slip past me. Give me ten minutes. I'll be on my way, Roger."
"You just better hurry. I heard a lot of weird stuff has been going on over here." Roger whispered through the phone.
"Are you kidding me? Does that mean we have to work extra hard?" I asked pulling my brown hair into a bun.
"Means I do! A genius like you doesn't!" I heard Roger laughing as the phone line started breaking up.
"We are breaking up. I'll see you there!"
Before I could hang up the phone, I heard the slightest joke of Roger saying, "But, we never started dating!"
A little chuckle shot out of my vocal cords. Roger is a good friend and a decent co-worker. Glaring at the computer screen, I read the words I put again.
"Never mistake knowledge for wisdom. One helps you make a living; the other helps you make a life."
It seemed like an interesting quote. Moving the mouse over to the send button, a smile curved on my face. Pressing the send button, I slowly walked away watching my little grey wolf hold the mail and run away. I hope this doesn't come back to back fire on me. I thought as I walked out to the door to my wonderful job.
