What is it about:
So for those who don't know, Soul Eater is a series that follows 3 young Meisters in their teenage years, with their weapons, as they advance in school life at the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA) founded by Lord Death himself. These 3 kids are:
Maka Albarn - The Scythe Master
Black Star - "The greatest assassin who ever lived!"
Death the Kid - Lord Death's son
Maka's partner is Soul Eater, a teenage boy who transforms into a scythe. At the beginning of the series, in their prologue, they successfully collect the 99th Kishin soul, leaving only 1 Witch soul needed to transform Soul into a Death Scythe. They meet and battle a woman named Blair, who Soul keeps nosebleeding over her breasts (-_- ugh...). When they finally do battle, they collect Blair's soul, only to find out that Blair is actually a cat with a ridiculous amount of magic. As a result, all 99 Kishin souls collected were confiscated.
Black Star's partner is a multi-weapon master, Tsubaki (meaning "Camelia Blossom"). In their prologue, Lord Death reveals a Witch's location, where a mob mafia of Kishins are heading to kill the witch Angela. The mob is killed by Angela's guardian, Mifune, a deadly samurai with endless amounts of swords. Upon meeting Mifune, Black Star and Tsubaki begin battling him. As Black Star is about to finish Mifune off, Angela herself rushes in, and we find out Angela is actually a little girl. Yes, you heard me. Angela is a little girl, hence why she needs a protector. As a result, Black Star and Tsubaki head home.
Death the Kid has 2 weapons - Liz and Patty, the Thompson sisters. It's only in their prologue that we find out that Kid is Death's son. He's called Kid so no one confuses him for his father. I mean, they have same name, come on! In order to make both Liz and Patty true Death Scythe weapons, Kid needs double the amount, since he has 2 weapons. That means 99 Kishin souls and 1 Witch soul each. As such, Kid asks for a quest, and is given the difficult quest inside the Pyramid of Anubis. Kid takes absolute marvel to the Pyramid for its symmetry. Yes, Kid is obsessed with symmetry. Anything that's not perfectly lined up, even by the smallest millimetre, is asymmetrical, and he will take disgust in it. (He's one to talk though, 3 white stripes on his left side, and not on the right, and then his sports top has 2 buttons on the left, and not on the right. HAHAHAHA!) However, Kid can't pull the trigger on the Pharaoh for it's symmetry... until the Pharaoh emerges from his case, and Kid is DISGUSTED by how asymmetrical he is, and unleashes hell. But... he destroys the Pyramid, and loses all the souls he's collected.

Backstory:
The backstory is quite complicated if you don't watch the whole show. Basically, 800 years ago, Lord Death once led a great force who protected the world. Among this force, was a man named Asura. His weapon was a powerful spear, and by powerful, I mean POW-ER-FUL!!! He was very loyal to Lord Death, and the force, until he started being driven to madness. As such, he started to feed on human souls, slowly following the madness, to eventually swallowing his own WEAPON! Asura had become a Kishin. Lord Death was saddened, and disappointed, and stopped Asura in his path, burying him within the depths of Death City in his own skin. Above the ground, he built an academy, claiming its purpose was to train young Meisters for the future. But in fact, its real purpose was to stop the Kishin from ever reviving. And yet, it wasn't enough in Death's eyes. He took the safety to another level, and bounded his soul to Death City. Ever since, he could NEVER leave the City, and therefore sends his students on missions outside the City.

Opinion on series:
Holy shit is there a lot of action. And a lot of comedy to match, too! There's so many moments where you just laugh so much, you can't breathe! But the level of action is just incredible, so hard to beat! Every single episode keeps you glued to the screen, sat on the edge of your seat, and every cliffhanger at the end leaves you wanting more. This anime is without a doubt a must-watch for all action and comedy lovers! I'm not kidding! You have to watch it! Also... some parts do get you right in the feels, so be sure to keep some tissues nearby in case. You've been warned!

Ships:
Ugh, the ships... one of the many things everyone in the fandom judges you for... but I think most people in this fandom can agree on one ship.
Soul X Maka
Two words: Cuteness overload!
The 2 may only see each other as school partners (Meister and Weapon), but they don't realise how much they care for each other. They both want to grow stronger, so they can protect the other, which can sometimes cause arguments, and stupid stunts, but at the end of the day, they always make up, and join back together.
CUTE!
It's just....
AGH!
MY BRAIN CANNOT TAKE HOW CUTE THEY ARE!!!!
