You Need To Survive
The hallucinations were getting worse.Last night he imagined them all coming in a truck–Suga's old truck. They were all beckoning to him. J-Hope got down, waved to him, and went inside the gas station mart. Jimin was sleeping in the back. Jin gave him a Polaroid camera and gestured for him to take a picture of him and Suga. So he went ahead and took it. He went inside the truck, showed it to them, then gave it to Jin. He smiled and slid it into his pocket. Namjoon got out of the car and filled the gas into the truck. J-Hope got out of the mart, put the bag in the back, then saw Jimin. He pulled the blanket up higher on him, and Jimin shifted in his sleep. J-Hope climbed into the back and Jin started the truck. They drove away, Jungkook and Taehyung waving to Namjoon. He blinked, and they were gone.
He sighed. He wanted to join them so badly. But he couldn't go back. Not after so many years of ignoring them.
He saw all the voicemails and texts Taehyung and Jimin sent him. He knew about Jungkook and Suga, about how Taehyung survived.
He looked up at the sky, at Jin. "Hyung..." he whispered.
He felt something on his head, then his arms. Rain. It felt like Jin finally felt bad about what he did.
Namjoon turned and went inside, ignoring the car that was approaching. Ignoring the "Hyung!" that sounded vaguely familiar.
He went to the restroom and stared at himself in the mirror. Then he breathed on the glass.
He wrote on the fog.
Then he registered the voice.
"Taehyung?"
He turned and ran outside. But the car was leaving.
"Taehyung! Jimin! J-Hope!"
But they didn't hear him.
Namjoon stared at the car disappearing into the night, felt his jacket getting wet, but he didn't care.
The words on the mirror said the four words Namjoon wanted deeply to follow, but didn't know how to. Didn't know how to anymore. Because he missed seeing his best friends, his closest friends.
"You Need To Survive."
