Earthquake in Pakistan
October 26th A 7.5 magnitude earthquake has killed 215 people in Pakistan, including 12 Afghan girls crushed as they were trying fled their collapsing school.
At least 1,000 more people were injured and hundreds of homes destroyed
"Initial reports show a big loss of life, huge financial losses in Badakhshan, Takhar, Nangarhar, Kunar and other states.
At least 31 people were confirmed dead in Afghanistan and 43 in Pakistan, according to officials, with the toll set to rise.
"Exact numbers are not known because phone lines are down and they couldn't communicate in the districts.
"So far 1500 homes are reported to be damaged or destroyed."
The quake, which lasted at least one minute, shook buildings in Kabul, Islamabad and New Delhi.
In Pakistan, the National Disaster Management Authority put the official death toll at 43, but said there were unconfirmed reports of at least 80 killed.
One aftershock hit shortly afterwards, with a magnitude of 4.8.
