The Missing Payment
Ayanda woke up early. It was the last day of the month—SASSA payment day. She checked her phone. No message. No money. Her heart sank. She had only R50 left. Her son, Themba, needed food. The landlord was waiting for rent.

"What’s happening?" she asked an old woman beside her.
"They say there is a delay," the woman replied. "But no one tells us why."
Ayanda clenched her fists. Something was wrong.
