Chapter 1

The tall redheaded girl danced around the room, belting out a song. Her dance partner was the broom she was supposed to be using to clean. She was singing a song she vaguely remembered from when she was just a child. Her voice rang out sweet and clear, never cracking. She could sing low notes, or sing falsetto without a single break in the notes. Sixteen year old Ravyn Holland stood just in front of the window of her tall tower, belting out the last high note of the song. When the song ended she sighed and rested her chin on her hand and stared out at the blue sky.
It was such a beautiful day, but she wasn’t able to enjoy it. She was stuck in a tower because...well, she couldn’t remember exactly. She couldn’t exactly leave. The only rope she had was too short, and the jump down would be suicide. So, Ravyn was stuck in the tower with absolutely nothing to do and no one to talk to.
Ravyn sat down on her knees and put her elbows up on the ledge and rest her head on her hands and stared out at the miles and miles of trees that surrounded her tower. The sky was gray, the sun was just barely a sliver through the thick grey clouds.
