Yana in the game
I stood in the town square, eagerly waiting for the contestants to be selected. It was always a thrill to watch the contestants walk up onto the stage and grab their weapons. Except, there was always the worry that you would be selected. I sighed, shaking that fear away. It felt like years since the last competition, although it had only been two months. I watched as the lady on the stage pulled names out of a hat. She said names, twelve so far. People walked up onstage and grabbed their weapons. I smiled. They would be going to the dome soon. The lady pulled one last name out of the hat. "Our last contestant is..." I held my breath. "Yana imuki!" My smiled faded and I Knew at that very moment I was going to die very soon. "Yana imuki?" Said the lady. "Are you here?" I raised my hand and walked up to the stage. She handed me a black jumpsuit. I had a very specific choice of weapons. There was a crossbow, a hammer, a sword, a dagger, and a... kazoo? I pointed to it. "Is that supposed to be there?" I asked. The lady looked at it and whispered, "you're lucky. That kazoo is meant to keep you sane in this game." My eyes widened and I picked up the kazoo. I also picked up the sword, the hammer, and the dagger. I left the crossbow. I wasn't good at all with bows.* Selection lady's perspective *
I stared at the last contestant, yana imuki. She looked terrified, but not as terrified as the other contestants. She had this sort of look that told me she was going to live.
* Yana's perspective *
I walked to the line of contestants and stood there, holding my weapons and my jumpsuit. The crowd cheered. "This way!" Shouted the lady, and I followed her, and the line followed me. She led us to a room with thirteen dressing rooms. She led each of us into each one and told us to put our jumpsuits on. She told me that she had no more pink jumpsuits for the girls, so she gave me a black one. "It's okay!" I said and changed into it. I walked out holding my weapons. The lady led us into a glass room. I knew, this was the dome. It was as big as the state of Georgia, they said. She led us to a circle, we all stood on stones. She exited quickly. I waited for the alarm to sound, beginning this death game.
