Smile
I just wanted to say, I really like your smile. A lot.Scratch that.
I love it.
And everyday, I thank the ballet gods for giving me the opportunity to see it multiple times a week. Especially with our staging for Sleeping Beauty.
Yesterday was probably the most times I've smiled in a single day. You could chalk it up to me doing my job as the Princess, and doing a really good job at pretending to be in love with you. But you have to remember that our directors aren't giving us too much facial choreography. No, the acting is our job. They just tell us how to move.
Honestly, I have pretty bad luck. But somehow, some all-mighty being was feeling sorry for me and decided to allow me the chance to play the Princess with you as my Prince. Maybe it was because you don't do pointe. You're honestly a lot better than the rest of the guys (don't tell them I said that). I know you wouldn't believe me if I told you, but I'm really glad you decided to take ballet. You've come so far, and it means I get to dance with you.
I must say, even though the modern costumes are hideous, somehow you manage to make it look okay. I know I look like a rectangular pancake in mine, but you actually look like royalty. Maybe it's just me being biased, but what does it matter? You're just too beautiful.
All the touches are too much for my poor frail heart to handle. Of course, I knew that there would be a lot of hand holding and lifts when I saw your name underneath mine on the cast list, but it never really sank in. Until we started choreographing them.
And yes, we regularly hug. It's a thing most friends do.
But somehow, this feels different. It's probably because we're pretending to be in love.
Well, for you. I know I'm not pretending.
I nearly had a small heart attack yesterday when one of our friends came up to us after we had finished staging the final dance between the Prince and Princess. She was squealing about how I had decided to do a small piece of improv, and smiled at you, leaning in before spinning away. You had smiled back - most likely going along with the improvisation. She said she had noticed the smile and was thoroughly convinced by our performance, thinking, "Aww, they're in love!"
We both laughed it off, but I will admit my heart did an unnatural little flutter at her words.
The day went by a lot quicker than I thought it would, since two weeks ago, staging seemed so much longer. Though that was probably because it was the first week back from the break, and no one was in prime dancing shape.
I'm a little worried about the criticism Sleeping Beauty will face, due to the contemporary costumes, and two girls in the lead roles, rather than a male and a female. But I know it'll all be worth it, because I'm dancing with you.
And you're worth everything.
