Chapter 9: Bethany (Part 2)

“Here we go. Let's get that cream of ice.” Percy says as he puts his car in a parking place. The throaty sound of the engine shut off and we all stepped out onto the asphalt. The swishing of our dresses sounded like snow against the car's exterior. We all laugh and I swear we got a few crazy looks from other people, almost like they thought we were drunk. It didn't help the laughing situation when I mentioned it. We entered the store quite elegantly. Which must have come as quite a shock to those who were watching. We all walk to the ice cream aisle as Clara and Percy get a cart. The two of them come back with a cart and we start looking at ice cream.
        “Ice cream's on me.” Clara says looking at some mint chocolate chip ice cream. Suddenly Clara stops. Her eyes flicker from side to side as she slowly backs up.
        “What's wrong?” Percy asks putting a hand on Clara's back. Clara was still slumped down and unresponsive. She looks up with a shocked look on her face.
        “She's watching me.” Clara whispers.
        “Where! I don't see her.” Percy says smiling but still whispering.
        “Over by the clothes. She is in the jackets. I swear she is there.” Percy looks over to the mens section and sees some North Face jackets. His eyes widen and he grits his teeth.
        “Hey Clara, let's pick and get out of here.” I say looking at Clara and then Percy. “Now straighten up. Or else she'll think you saw her.” Percy gives Clara a hug and she smiles.
        “Why don't we grab a giant bucket and some ice. We can have a full out ice cream bar! Wait, I have an idea. Sammy can you go grab another cart please?” Clara says with a huge smile on her face.
        “Sure. Brb.” Sammy says. In a couple minutes Sammy returns. Clara gives me 10 dollars and turns around. “Follow me.” Clara walks over to the inner doorway.
        “Beth, you and Sammy go get toppings and some candy. Percy and I will get the ice cream and ice. You have 10 minutes and 10 dollars. First couple to check out, put the stuff in the car and buckle up, gets a special prize. The time is,” Clara looks at her phone. “8:04 with 30 seconds until 8:05.” The time passes and Clara says “3! 2! 1! GO!” Both teams go to a running start. “Percy go get ice and I'll meet you at a self scan.” Sammy and I hear as we run away.
        “Sammy you get sauces. Chocolate, caramel, and fudge.” I say as I look for M&M's, Twix, marshmallows, chocolate chips, and gummy bears. Everything was in a relatively similar place, so that saved on time. “I have my stuff.” I say running to the cart.
        “I'm almost done. Come help me out.” Sammy says looking at sauces.
        “Here, I pick, you catch and throw into the cart?” I say.
        “Deal.” Sammy says getting mid way from me to the cart. Let's see. Hershey's... Caramel! I toss the first bottle and he catches it in his hands perfectly. I hear the sound of it going into the cart while I look for the next bottle. Chocolate, AND FUDGE! Double whammy! I toss one to Sammy and we run to the cart. Both of the bottles make a louder sound as they go into the cart. We both make a mad dash for the register. Sammy goes ahead and starts the scanner. He starts scanning and we see Clara and Percy scan a huge bucket of ice cream and then a bag of ice. As they slide the 10 dollar bill into the register. Both of them cheer and high five as we scan the last object in our cart. The 10 dollar bill goes in and we grab our bags. Percy and Clara hug and make a mad dash for the door. The car opens up just as Clara and Percy put their bag and bucket in the trunk. We are right behind them so we toss our bags in just as the trunk gets slammed shut. Clara and Percy open our door just as they open theirs. They are being so fair. They got the advantage with less items so they opened our doors.
        We both step in and close our doors. We click our seat belts just as Clara and Percy shut their doors.
        “We did it!” I say leaning over to nudge Sammy
        “Yeah, I guess we did!” Sammy says giving me a hug.
        “Congratulations guys!” Clara says shaking my hand.
        “Next time, don't expect such a courtesy as we gave you.” Percy says, almost warning us.
        “Percy be nice!” Clara says gently punching Percy's arm.
        “Ow! Fine...” Percy says smiling. “Let's get home before our treat melts.” Percy turns the key and the engine revs to get itself warmed up.
        “Oh and Sammy, do you think your parents would mind you staying at my place for a little while?” Clara asks.
        “Probably not, but just for a couple days.” Sammy says.
        “Okay, when we get back. You can call your parents and tomorrow you can get your extra clothes.” Clara says.
        “Thanks. Where will I sleep?” Sammy asks with a smile.
        “Uhh... Probably on the other sofa. Bethany already took one of them. Percy and I will sleep on the floor.” Clara says with a laugh.
        “I guess we know our place don't we.” Percy says smiling and looking over at Clara.
        “Yeah, I guess we do.” Clara said with another smile. A good song plays on the radio plays and we all sing to it.
        “Guess what? We're home!” Percy adds as he pulls into Clara's driveway. Her yellow house with blue trim stands of good contrast to the black sky. We all get out of the car and take the ice cream to the kitchen. We then got the rest of the groceries from the car and take them inside.

Again another long chapter. So sorry to do it to you again!
So, me and my bf broke up ),: Percy's parts have been
completely from my imagination. Sorry about a late update
to the story. Having advanced classes has been taking it's
toll on me :/ Keep watching for more updates! :D
