Chapter Four
It was time to go to school. I hate facing people after something hard has happened. I am always afraid that I will totally lose it.I had emailed my best friends, Elizabeth, Sara, Ian and Martine that I had some important news, but I hadn’t told them what it was.
When I arrived at school that day, I felt tense. I was not ready to go to school. I would probably start freaking out. I also knew that i had promised to tell Elizabeth, Sara, martine, and Ian all the news at recess today.
I made it through the morning okay. I probably looked a little grumpy, but other than that, I held it together pretty well. Telling my friends the news was the hard part of the day.
We were all standing in the corner of the black top. I decided to tell them one by one. I brought Elizabeth over to tell her first. I started fidgeting.
“This is hard for me to say…” I started.
“It’s okay, “ she said “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to.”
“No, I do, I’m just having trouble getting it out of my mouth.”
“Look, it’s okay, you can trust me.”
“My parents are getting divorced!” I blurted. There was silence from Elizabeth.
“I’m so sorry…” she said, “I know this must be horrible for you, but I can’t relate to you. I wish I could.”
“It’s okay,” I said, “could you tell the others for me?
“Yeah, sure…” she said
Sara and Ian were shocked. Sara knew how it was because her parents were divorced too.
Martine didn’t really care. we weren’t such great friends, and she didn’t really like me. I didn’t like her too much either. Ian just felt bad.
I cried for the rest of the afternoon. I think everyone thought I was crazy.
