The Golden Dragons
Molly Lendall was an ordinary girl in an ordinary world with an ordinary life. She lived in a small Chinese town with her pet goldfish. She liked rice pudding and had an okay singing voice. She wanted to move to the United States and become a policewoman. She was taking college classes over the internet. All in all, Molly was no different from you or me.That all changed one day.
Molly loved to ride her bicycle around town, so it happened one day that she saw a child lying in the road. She hopped off her bike to see what the problem was, but the child got up and ran off. Molly shrugged, got back on her bike, and kept going.
After a while, she saw another child laying in the road. How odd! The cycle repeated itself; she got off her bicycle, the child ran off, and she got back on.
But after about the third or fourth time, Molly knew something was going on. She decided to perform a test.
She looked for another child laying in the road. When she found one, she rode right past.
The boy didn't move.
Molly turned around and drove back past him. He still didn't move.
Thinking that something might actually be wrong, Molly slid off of her bicycle. The boy got up and ran.
What was going on? Molly had a feeling that the children were leading her somewhere.
Now, the safe thing to do would be to turn around and leave. Molly, being a bit of a goody-two-shoes, did just that.
She looked back, questioning the move. She saw movement out of the corner of her eye.
Molly narrowed her eyes and pedaled faster. She occasionally would look back to see if she was being followed. It seemed that some kids were trailing her. How strange! What did they want?
Molly finally stopped her bike. She turned to the group of five children.
"Can I help you?" she asked.
A little girl walked up to her.
"We are The Golden Dragons. You will save us."
"Save you? How can I-" Before Molly could finish that thought, something poked her and she collapsed on the ground.
She saw one of the kids grab her bicycle, and then she was out.
