Chapter 2

The moon shone brightly through the ferns of the nursery, making dapples upon the mossy nest. Greykit, still restless, arose from his nest. The kit’s eyes were open now, Greykit’s blue eyes shining under the stars. He clawed his way out of the nest, careful not to wake the snoring Maplekit. He climbed through the thin crack in the fern walls, swiftly in an attempt to avoid a dead leaf on the ground. Greykit’s eyes widened, he was outside the camp now.
He padded through the tall grass, gaping at the huge world around him. He saw something shining in the distance, greens and pinks dancing off it. Greykit runs over to it, eyes focused on the mysterious object. Greykit picked up the object, it was a rock with a clear shell on it, the light was just the moonlight. Greykit kept the rock, although it was worthless. He padded back to the nursery, eager to show his littermates, then he fell.
