Completely Still

Chapter 3~

The next day, I woke up, ate breakfast, brushed my messy black hair, brushed my teeth and left to school. When I got into the schoolyard, I looked around then saw Claire arguing with Dominica and Rachel. Oh no. Something must've happened after school that I missed. I ran over to meet them, but when I came they were so caught up in the argument that they didn't notice me. "You mean that you're forcing us to be with you? We can hang out with whoever we want at recess, now leave us alone!" Rachel practically screamed. With that she and Dominica turned around, pushing me aside,  and walked away to meet with Claudia and Elise. "How...? What..?" I said, making Claire finally notice me standing there. "Oh Zoey...I...just...don't even know. I texted Rachel last night about where she was last recess... and... I don't know what I did wrong. She just overreacted... I guess" Claire said, and with such a sad expression I thought she might cry. I've never seen her like this. I've always been the crier, Claire had always helped me. Now what to do? I noticed just staring wasn't helping, so I thought of something to say. "Claire, don't blame it on yourself. It could very well just be me and how abnormal I am, with all my headaches. You never know what others think of me, so maybe Claudia and Elise told Rachel and Dominica that I was weird. Claire just... Don't blame yourself. They made the decision to leave us for a reason." I said, slowly becoming more upset about myself. My headaches, everything that had happened. "Ya Zoey, I guess you're right. But don't blame it on yourself either, Rachel and Dominica left us, remember? Not the other way around." Claire replied. The bell rang, so me and Claire began to head to our line. No one noticed our sadness. But then again, what did I expect, people magically become nice after what had just happened? I headed inside, with Claire close behind.

The first period was a rough one, not very helpful on my already bad mood. We had to do a group project to research one food group and what some of the foods in that food group did for your body, therefore, very boring. Mrs Korin, unfortunately, chose our groups. I ended up with Victor, the weirdest person in our class, including me, which is saying alot, Owen (gag), and Marley. I didn't mind Marley, at least she saved me from the other people in our group. We got our laptop and it wasn't working very well right off the bat. Victor thought he was SO smart smashing his hands on the keyboard making the screen lag even more. After what had seemed to be 15 minutes, our laptop was working. Me and Marley, because honestly, Owen and Victor didn't do anything, researched on fruits and vegetables. Things like what Vitamin B12 does, how much calcium do we need a day, boring stuff like that are what we searched.

However, in the middle of searching, I felt it. The pain. Control it, Zoey. A couple seconds later the pain faded. "Wow, did I just do that?" I asked, however I ment to ask it to myself so I must've looked really dumb. "Wait what? What did you do?" Marley said, facing me. "oh uh... well I just ment to say it to myself but I managed to control my headache for once... Anyway, let's keep on writing notes." I said, trying to change the subject. "Uh ok? Tell me if your head hurts again, I get that it must be really painful and annoying." Marley replied. After maybe 5 more minutes of research, Mrs Korin said "Ok everyone. I'll be choosing the groups to present what they learned, on their PowerPoint. Close your laptops." Wait, PowerPoint? I thought it was supposed to be a poster- ugh. Bunch of work for nothing. "So first, let's get," please not our group, please not our group-"Zoey's group go up first." Uggh, what now. "Marley, what do we do now?" I whispered to her. "I don't know, present the post-" "Zoey, Marley. Owen and Victor are waiting at the front." Mrs Korin said, interrupting Marley's sentence. "Well, we though we had to do a poster... And still we're not done..." Marley said shyly. "Hmph, well next time remember to listen, that will have to be for homework." Mrs Korin replied and we sat down. For the next 20 minutes or so we had to watch about 8 PowerPoints, so it was pretty boring.

After what had seemed like forever, the bell rang. "Ok everyone, head on out. We'll have our snacks after recess." Mrs Korin said, and I already started heading out the door. Claire ran up to me once I had gotten to the stairs. "Oh hi Zoey! Wasn't that heath thing we just did so boring!" she said. "Tell me about it... And I had Victor in my group, so at least you're lucky you didn't have him" I responded, heading out the back doors. Me and Claire walked towards the peace garden, and sat down. "It's going to be so weird without Rachel and Dominica..." Claire muttered. "Don't think about it Claire. Let's talk about something else." I said, trying to change the subject. "Oh ok, well did you see that new YouTube video made by NigaHiga?" Claire asked me. "OHHH! I saw it! That was so hilarious!" I responded. "Oh yeah, you remember the part when..." And the rest of the recess went like that, taking about YouTubers we watched and their videos.

The bell rang and me and Claire continued to our line. "Wait, you guys talking about NigaHiga?" I heard Christine ask behind me. "Oh yeah, did you see his latest video?" I asked, starting to head inside. "YES! It was so funny!" Christine replied, like usual, way too loudly. We were laughing all the way until we got into our classroom. I grabbed my lunch, and head to my desk. I saw Mrs Korin writing a note about math on the board already, so I pulled out my math notebook only to be horrified to realize I forgot to do my math! I copied down the note on patterning. It was fine until we had to mark our homework, I said that I forgot to do it and Mrs Korin did not look pleased. "Zoey, please remember to do your homework tonight." She said, heading to check others' homework.  But that's when, for the second time, I got a headache. It came randomly, like always. Zoey. Don't let it take over you. Take a deep breath. Remember your favourite song. But the pain, it was too much to bear. I closed my eyes, concentrating hard. Remember me, don't faint. You did it before. The pain was gradually increasing, so I concentrated even harder. The pain faded. It was then I noticed it was eerily quiet. Was the class looking at me? I opened my eyes, and saw everyone standing, not even breathing, just completely still.
